casentino / color 5
This wool fabric was worked in the Casentino valley (hence the origin of the name) already in Etruscan and Roman times. To understand its prestige and refinement, just think that in the 1300s, the inhabitants of the Palagio Fiorentino in Stia paid taxes in Florence using it as currency. Unmistakable due to its characteristic "curls", obtained through the rattling technique (brushing the wool with a stone), it is a very warm and robust fabric. The curl, in fact, makes the cloth resistant to wear and bad weather, suitable for any type of garment, thanks to its ability to create perfect thermal insulation.
